KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.15 g, 12 h), Abydos, struck under Kalas or Demarchos, 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [AΛ]EΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Hermes standing left, wearing petasos and holding kerykeion; below throne, monogram. Price 1503. Attractively toned. Slightly porous and with light scratches and minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
